60 years of Andreas – and that called for a very special mead.
Tales of Met-Apha is our Limited Edition created for the 60th birthday of Metwabe founder Andreas Struwe. If you have known Andreas for a while, you have probably heard of Met-Apha – his best-known character and mead avatar, familiar to many in the live-action role-playing (LARP) and tabletop role-playing communities. Over the years, Met-Apha has become a familiar part of the Metwabe world, with plenty of adventures to his name.
So what better way to celebrate this birthday than with a special mead dedicated to Met-Apha himself? And since Andreas has always been a big fan of liquorice, while many of you have been asking for a liquorice-flavoured mead for years, choosing the flavour was actually the easy part.
The real challenge was keeping everything a secret. From the initial idea and product development to testing, label design, bottling and logistics, the entire project had to be organised without our boss finding out. Not exactly easy when the person you are trying to surprise is usually involved in just about everything.
The result is a Magic Mead with liquorice flavour, complete with stories of its own. Each bottle features one of 30 different short stories about Met-Apha, featuring little adventures, curious incidents and tales from the life of our mead avatar. The QR code on the label also gives you access to more information about the project and the story behind it.
Originally, the edition was intended as a birthday surprise. But of course, we wanted to share it with you as well. That is why Tales of Met-Apha is now available to everyone – as a Limited Edition and only while stocks last.
